DYNAMIC STRETCHING BEFORE ANY SPORT ACTIVITY TO PREVENT INJURY

Dynamic stretching is a form of stretching that utilizes the body's momentum, and the momentum from static-active stretching strength, this means that you move while you stretch in an effort to propel the muscle into an extended range of motion (but not beyond static-passive stretching ability to the point of injury).

Dynamic stretching increases range of movement as well as blood and oxygen flow to soft tissues before you begin exercise. Increasingly, coaches and sports trainers are aware of the role in dynamic stretching in improving performance and reducing the risk of injury.

Before any sport activity, a 5 minute dynamic stretch regimen should be done to warm up the body and improve blood flow. Studies have shown that static stretching before activity can drastically reduce the athletes performance but should be done post activity to relax the muscles and reduce the amount of stiffness felt later.
